Pathologic Comparisn between Liver Cirrhosis and Primary Liver Cancer

Abstract
In Korea it is very difficult to obtain autopsy permission.
The author had an opportunity to study 48 autopsy cases with liver cirrhosis and 20 autopsy cases with primary liver cancer in regard to complication.
The purpose of this paper is to report pathologic comparison between liver cirrhosis and primary liver cancer.
In pathologic comparison between liver cirrhosis and primary liver cancer the following results were obtained.
1) Primary liver cancer was associated in 25% of liver cirrhosis.
2) Associated Cirrhosis was found in 80% of primary liver cancer.
3) Abnormal liver weight less than 1,300 00 gm was found in 10% of primary liver cancer as compared with 85.4% of liver cirrhosis.
4) Abnormal spleen weight more than 130 gm was found in 90% of primary liver cancer as compared with 93.5% of liver cirrhosis.
5) Esophageal varix, hydrothorax, nephritis, cholemic nephrosis, cholelithiasis, testicular atrophy, pneumonia were found in a relatively higher percentage in liver cirrhosis than in primary liver cancer.
6) Portal thrombosis was found in a higher percentage in primary liver cancer than in liver cirrhosis.
7) Most causes of death, were hepatic coma in liver cirrhosis and peritoneal and intraabdominal bleeding in primary liver cancer.
8) Metastatic regions of primary liver cancer were found in 5 cases of lung, 4 cases of lymph nodes, 2 cases of spleen one case of bone kidney and heart respectively.
